The Kremlin does not yet see prospects for the start of the negotiation process on Ukraine. This was stated by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the statement of the President of Belarus about the possible start of negotiations in the fall.
“At various levels, including the highest ones, we talked about the fact that the Russian side did not close the door to the negotiation process. But so far we do not see any prospects for this negotiation process. It is important for us to achieve our goals,” Peskov said.
He stressed that at the moment political and diplomatic means are not available to achieve these goals. “First of all, because of the denial of such a possibility by the Kiev regime, as well as the pronounced disinclination to such a process on the part of, first of all, Washington, which, of course, has direct influence and direct leadership of the Kiev regime,” Peskov said.
July 6 Lukashenka declaredthat peace talks on Ukraine could begin in the fall. “Maybe not in September, a little later. I don’t want to give out any information, but the Europeans are already talking about it,” the Belarusian leader stressed. He added that Russia is ready for negotiations and it is necessary to take advantage of the moment, not to wait for the Ukrainian offensive, since “the dynamics are frantic, the development of the situation is instantaneous.”
The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that it sees no preconditions for peace talks. At the same time, on June 20, Peskov emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to negotiations on a Ukrainian settlement, but because of Kyiv’s position, there is no “stable ground” for them.
