Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on the lawsuit of Naftogaz Ukrainy against Gazprom. According to him, now it is difficult to predict how such a step could affect gas supplies to Europe.
He noted that at the moment there are “a lot of unpredictable things” in the actions of the West, as well as the leaders of the gas industry in Ukraine. “Here we just don’t undertake to guess how this may affect the overall supply,” Peskov explained (quote according to TASS).
The Kremlin spokesman also recalled that earlier “Ukraine has already cut off the current on one of the lines.” Peskov stressed that there were no grounds for this. According to him, “it’s scary to imagine what decisions Kyiv may still make in the future.
Last week Naftogaz filed petition for arbitration to the International Arbitration Court in respect of Gazprom. The Ukrainian company was accused of “Gazprom» in non-payment for gas transit services. According to the head of the company, Yuri Vitrenko, Naftogaz may also present additional requirements to the Russian side.
May 10 Ukrainian state-owned company “GTS Operator of Ukraine” (OGTSU) informed about the impossibility of transiting Russian gas to Europe through the Sokhranovka gas metering station due to force majeure circumstances.
