The Kremlin considers Ukraine’s statements about shipping in the Black Sea dangerous

Ukraine’s claims to consider ships sailing through the Black Sea to Russian ports as carrying military cargo are dangerous. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

“Unpredictable actions and, moreover, the involvement of the Kyiv regime in terrorist acts, of course, potentially pose a threat in this area, because the Kiev regime is absolutely unpredictable, it does not shun anything. Therefore, of course, such statements are dangerous,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

When asked whether Russia would change the zones of movement by sea, Peskov replied that the situation was being analyzed. “Our responsible departments will develop appropriate recommendations to minimize the danger,” he said.

On July 17, Russia left the grain agreement, which was signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey, the UN, Russia and Ukraine. Peskov explained this by the failure to fulfill Russian conditions under the grain deal.

After that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv plans to continue the Black Sea initiative without Russia. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that from July 20, all ships that go to Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea will be considered as “potential carriers of military cargo.”

Later, similar measures were announced in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from July 21. It follows from the statement that ships sailing to the Black Sea in the direction of Russian seaports “may be considered by Ukraine as carrying military cargo, with all the associated risks.”
