In Europe, any politician who thinks about the sovereignty and interests of his country is called pro-Russian. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov. In this way, he commented on the victory in the elections in Slovakia of the Direction – Social Democracy party, led by ex-Prime Minister Robert Fico.

“A number of politicians in Europe are called pro-Russian. In fact, we are now faced with situations where any politician on the European continent who is inclined to think about the sovereignty of his country, who protects the interests of his country, immediately tries to dub him a pro-Russian politician. Well, this is absurd,” he said.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that Moscow would like to see more experienced politicians “who tend to soberly assess the situation.”
