The Kremlin does not discuss issues related to personnel reshuffles in relation to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the information received about this is a rumor, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“Traditionally, I will answer you – treat such rumors accordingly,” he said.

Earlier, messages appeared on Telegram channels about the start of discussions of possible candidates for the post of Russian Foreign Minister after Lavrov’s resignation. The reason for the possible departure of the current minister from his post was not specified.

Lavrov has been the head of the Foreign Ministry since March 2004, before that, from 1994 to 2004, he was the permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations and to the UN Security Council. After the resignation of the government in 2020, Lavrov was re-elected to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.
