The Kremlin commented on the adoption of the new constitutions of the DPR and LPR

The process of integration of new regions of Russia is in full swing, ensuring the safety of the inhabitants of these regions is a priority for the Kremlin and is the main goal of the special operation in Ukraine. So the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on the adoption of the new constitutions of the republics by the DPR and LPR.

“The process of integration of these republics into the legal, legal, economic, social [поле], the security space of the Russian Federation is in full swing. And of course, the main thing for us is to ensure the security of the republics as soon as possible, and as you know, ensuring the security of the people who live there is the main goal of our operation. The president spoke about it. And it is important for us that these republics confidently take their place among all the subjects of the Russian Federation,” he said.

Earlier today, the DPR parliament unanimously approved adoption of a new constitution for the republic. An hour later, a similar decision was also made by the DPR parliament.

On December 29, a Vedomosti source close to the State Duma informedthat the new constitutions of the LPR and the DPR will be adopted on December 30 simultaneously. In early December, Vladimir Bidevka, speaker of the People’s Council of the DPR, also noted that the authorities plan to adopt a new constitution by the end of 2022.

During a special operation in Ukraine, the Russian military took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. At the end of September, five-day referendums were held in these territories on the issue of joining subjects to Russia. Residents supported the entry of regions into the Russian Federation by a majority of votes.

On September 30, the President of the Russian Federation and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions signed agreements on the regions joining Russia. On October 4, the Federation Council, following the State Duma, ratified all the treaties, and the next day, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed federal laws on the admission of four new subjects to the Russian Federation. Martial law has been introduced in four regions since October 19.
