Peskov: Putin is still ready for negotiations, but to achieve the goals of the Northern Military District
Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for negotiations regarding the Ukrainian conflict, but only to achieve the goals of the special operation carried out by the Russian Federation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told The New York Times (NYT) about this.
“Putin is really ready for negotiations, he said so. Russia is still ready [к переговорам]but only to achieve their goals,” said the press secretary of the Russian head of state.
With his statement, Putin’s deputy chief of staff commented on the NYT publication, which states that the president allegedly signaled that he was ready to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine, taking into account the existing demarcation lines. Peskov himself noted that such theses “are incorrect in their concept.”
During a press conference and direct line held on December 14, Vladimir Putin once again stated that there will be peace in the former Soviet republic only after achieving the goals of a special military operation.
