The Kremlin called the statement about the visit of “Putin’s double” to new regions strange

The statement of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov that Kherson region and the LPR was visited not by Russian President Vladimir Putin, but by his double, is very strange. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

On the air of Ukrainian television, Danilov said that the new regions were allegedly visited by “an ordinary double, of which he has more than one,” and this is “a known thing.” At today’s conference call, one of the journalists asked Peskov to comment on this statement.

On April 17, Putin visited the headquarters of the Dnepr group of troops in the Kherson direction, and later visited the headquarters of the Vostok National Guard in the LPR. He visited these regions for the first time. April 19 Putin explainedthat he personally went to the headquarters so as not to distract the military from business for a long time.

During the working trips, the president heard reports from the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Mikhail Teplinsky, the commander of the Dnepr grouping, Colonel-General Oleg Makarevich, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin and other military personnel. Putin stressed that it was important for him to “hear the opinion” of the military personnel about the situation in the combat zone.

The Kremlin noted that the visits of the head of state were not prepared in advance. Peskov explained that for Putin, who is also the supreme commander in chief, it is important to receive information about the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine directly on the spot.

At the end of March, the President of the Russian Federation also visited the DPR. During a working trip to Mariupol, Putin toured several facilities and talked to local residents. The head of state visited several districts, driving a car around the city.
