The situation in Kosovo remains tense and potentially dangerous. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“She is extremely difficult. We see a traditionally biased attitude towards the Serbs in Kosovo. This is such a traditional line, unbalanced. The situation there is indeed very, very tense and potentially dangerous. We are monitoring it very closely,” he said.

Answering a question about the armed clash in the Banska monastery, Peskov said that he “does not have the details” and refused to comment on the incident. At the same time, he noted, it is no secret that “various provocations are very often organized against the Serbs.”

Earlier, Kosovo authorities accused Serbia of involvement in an attack on Kosovo police officers, which resulted in the death of one of them. Later, the Kosovo police announced the liquidation of several people in the Banjska monastery who were allegedly involved in the attack on security forces. The situation caused a new wave of tension in relations between the Serbian community and the Albanian authorities of the partially recognized republic.

24 September Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reportedthat Kosovo police killed three ethnic Serbs and seriously injured two others. He said there was “a possibility” that a fourth person was killed. Vucic noted that there were no reasons for such harsh actions by the police.
