The Kremlin called the draft security guarantees for Ukraine a threat to Russia

The draft security guarantees for Ukraine published by Kyiv once again confirms the need for a special operation in Ukraine, since Ukraine’s landmark remains on joining NATO. This statement was made by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
According to Peskov, Ukraine is still oriented towards NATO and is not going to abandon its plans to join the alliance.
“In general, we are talking about a certain document, and no one hides that they have this document in mind before Ukraine joins NATO, that is, the reference point for NATO membership remains,” the spokesman said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
Such statements by the Kyiv authorities, Peskov added, only confirm “the relevance of one of the reasons” for conducting a special operation to ensure the country’s security and national interests. He stressed that Moscow’s reaction would be negative if the draft security guarantees were signed.
“The leadership of this country must take actions that will accordingly eliminate the threat to the Russian Federation. They know perfectly well what these actions should be, ”summed up Peskov.
On the eve of the office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky published draft security guarantees for the country. In the document, Kyiv emphasized the need for investment in the defense industrial base, as well as the supply of weapons and joint exercises with the countries of the European Union and NATO. Special attention in the draft is given to anti-Russian sanctions. The guarantors of Ukraine’s security, according to the document, will be the EU countries, the USA, Great Britain, Australia, Canada and Turkey.
As Andriy Yermak, the head of Zelensky’s office, noted, security guarantees are not an alternative to Ukraine’s entry into NATO. According to him, these measures should ensure the security of the country until it is accepted into the alliance.
