Peskov assessed the likelihood of Lukashenka’s participation as a negotiator on the conflict in Ukraine
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov commented on the likelihood of the participation of the head of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as a negotiator to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. He told reporters about it on Tuesday.
The official representative of the Kremlin noted that the President of Belarus is the head of “fraternal and allied Russia of Belarus.” Peskov also called him a statesman, experienced, wise and seasoned in various battles, who has very friendly relations with his Russian counterpart Putin.
“As for negotiations with Ukraine, there are no prerequisites for this. This is absolutely excluded by Kiev, the countries of the West,” Peskov said.
On Saturday, June 24, a military mutiny took place with the participation of Wagner PMC, led by the founder of a private company, Yevgeny Prigozhin. The situation was resolved, including with the help of the President of Belarus, to whom Putin expressed gratitude “for the efforts and peaceful resolution of the situation.”
