The Kremlin announced the coordination of negotiations with Armenia and Azerbaijan

Negotiations with Armenia and Azerbaijan are being coordinated, and “high-level contacts” are possible, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“Now contacts are carried out through our military and through other departments. Communication at a higher level is also consistent. As final agreements are reached, we will inform you promptly. Contacts at the highest level are also possible,” the Kremlin representative said.

Peskov added that only the military can provide expertise on the feasibility of increasing the contingent of peacekeepers in the region, and noted that “our military continues its work in order to truly return this region to peace.”

The Kremlin also spoke about the letter that was handed over by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Peskov, the letter outlined the point of view of the Armenian side on what was happening.

“At that time, work was underway to resume the flow of humanitarian aid to Karabakh. And to our satisfaction, as of yesterday, this work was crowned with success and the first batch went in two directions through the Akdam and Lachin roads,” he added, noting that this did not save from the resumption of hostilities.

On the afternoon of September 19, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh for the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the territory of the region and the “restoration of the constitutional order” of Azerbaijan.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Azerbaijan informed Russia about the “anti-terrorist operation” in Nagorno-Karabakh a few minutes before the start of hostilities. Pashinyan indicated that Yerevan did not receive information from Russia about Baku’s intention to start military operations.
