Russia has its own programs for the production of drones, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

So he commented publication The Wall Street Journal, which reports on the plans of the Russian Federation and Iran to build a joint plant for the production of combat drones in Tatarstan.

“Russia has a number of its own programs to create unmanned aerial vehicles for a variety of purposes. These programs are being implemented. Recently, a list of presidential instructions was adopted, signed and made public in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles. Therefore, we have our own development programs. I don’t actually know what sources the newspaper you mentioned relied on in its reports,” Peskov commented.

Russian and Iranian authorities have repeatedly denied reports of alleged deliveries of Iranian-made drones to Russia for use in the course of a special operation. In August 2022, The Washington Post wrote about this. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the publication, called it “information stuffing.”

On October 17, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry accused Iran of supplying weapons to Russia, including drones that are allegedly used during a special operation in Ukraine. In response, Peskov said that during the NMD, Russia uses only Russian equipment, which has a Russian name.

At the end of December, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to approve by the summer a strategy for the development of unmanned aircraft in Russia for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2035, which should determine the priority areas for the development of unmanned aircraft, the parameters of this market, and annual targets development of unmanned aircraft, as well as a list of ongoing activities, the volume and sources of their funding.
