The Kremlin announced Putin’s trip to the Caucasus

On Thursday, March 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin will make a working trip to the North Caucasus Federal District and visit the Mashuk Knowledge Center, where the opening ceremony of the Year of the Teacher and Mentor will be held, informed Kremlin press office.

“The President will present state awards to teachers who educated students who received the title of Hero of the Russian Federation while performing combat missions in the Chechen Republic, Syria and during a special military operation in Ukraine, and will meet with participants in the pilot educational program “Mentor’s School”,” follows from announcement.

At the same time, the President will meet with the Governor of the Stavropol Territory, Vladimir Vladimirov.

Last summer, Putin signed Decree on holding in 2023 the Year of the Teacher and Mentor in Russia. This decision was made “in order to recognize the special status of teaching staff, including those engaged in mentoring activities.” Then Putin instructed the government to set up an organizing committee for the Year of the Teacher and Mentor within three months and approve its composition, as well as ensure the development and approval of a plan of main events for its implementation. Regional authorities were also recommended to hold events within the framework of the Year of the Teacher and Mentor.

2022 was announced Year of cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia. Putin’s Decree stated that such a decision was made to popularize folk art and preserve cultural traditions, historical and cultural monuments, ethno-cultural diversity, cultural identity of all peoples and ethnic communities.
