The governor of the Kirov region, Alexander Sokolov, appealed to the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) and the prosecutor’s office with a request to understand the reasons for the increase in gasoline prices at gas stations in the region. According to him, the reason for the price increase was the actions of fuel suppliers.
“I sent official appeals to the prosecutor’s office and the Federal Antimonopoly Service regarding gasoline prices in the Kirov region. The cost of a liter of the most popular brands exceeds the average for the Volga Federal District. I contacted the prosecutor’s office and the antimonopoly service to check in detail the activities of fuel sellers,” Mr. Sokolov wrote in his Telegram channel.
He drew the attention of supervisory authorities to the inadmissibility of a situation in which there is no real competition between fuel suppliers in the region. According to Alexander Sokolov, this is what leads to an uncontrolled increase in prices for gasoline and diesel. The head of the region emphasized that the cost of diesel fuel at gas stations in Kirov and other settlements began to rise during autumn field work and the preparation of winter crops.
According to Kirovstat data as of October 11 of this year, the cost of fuel at Kirov gas stations was: gasoline AI-92 – 51.22 rubles/l, AI-95 – 55.99 rubles/l, AI-98+ – 67.62 rubles ./l, diesel fuel – 65.53 rub./l.
