Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the Security Council, said that Ukraine was launching strikes on Russian territory in order to disrupt the elections. He said that “the Russian people will respond to these actions with even greater unity.”

“In order to disrupt the voting process, to intimidate people at least in the regions bordering Ukraine, the Kiev neo-Nazi regime has conceived and is trying to carry out a number of criminal demonstrative armed actions,” Mr. Putin said (quoted from TASS)

The head of state said that in recent days the enemy had committed four acts of sabotage in the Belgorod region and one in the Kursk region, but “fled with heavy losses.” The President cited the following data: over 2.5 thousand people, 35 tanks, 40 armored vehicles took part in sabotage; losses – 60% among personnel and 50% of equipment. More than 95% of enemy missiles and shells are destroyed by Russian air defenses, Mr. Putin added. “These enemy attacks do not and will not remain unpunished,” the president said.

On the first day of the presidential elections, March 15, the Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled two polling stations in Kakhovka and Brilevka, Kherson region. Two people were injured in the strike on the site in Brilevka.

On March 14, the Belgorod region came under fire, and units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to break into the region. Governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov reportedthat from March 14 to 15, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the area with at least 155 rounds of ammunition. As a result of the shelling, there are wounded and dead.
