The Kiev Pushkin Museum will be renamed the Manor on Kudryavka, the city administration announced in its Telegram channel.
“At the request of the metropolitan community and the head of the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv, the branches of this cultural institution are changing their names. “The Kiev Pushkin Museum” will henceforth be called the “estate on Kudryavka,” the message says.
At the end of August last year, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, announced that the city administration renamed 95 streets, lanes and squares, whose names are associated with Russia or the USSR. The list of the most common Russian names that are used as toponyms and are subject to renaming in the first place was prepared by the expert council of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture in early August.
In addition to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, the list includes cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, breeder Ivan Michurin, test pilot Valery Chkalov, writer Maxim Gorky, commander Alexander Suvorov, poets Mikhail Lermontov and Vladimir Mayakovsky, Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Matrosov and cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov
On November 30, the Odessa City Council voted to dismantle the monuments to the Russian Empress Catherine II and Suvorov.
