The Israeli army plans to begin fighting in Gaza City within 48 hours

According to the Israeli publication Haaretz, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) plans to begin military operations in Gaza City within the next 48 hours. The publication claims that IDF forces will completely surround the city and begin fighting in its densely populated areas.
The main goal of the operation in Gaza is the destruction of Hamas militants, as well as the destruction of tunnels and military and civilian facilities of this organization. The time required to achieve this goal can take anywhere from several months to a year or even more.

The situation in the Middle East has deteriorated since the infiltration of thousands of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7. More than two hundred hostages were taken.

The name of the IDF operation in Gaza is “Iron Swords”. The Israeli air force struck hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, and Israel’s National Security Council cut off supplies of water, food, goods, electricity and fuel to the strip.
