Citizens of 42 states were killed as a result of an attack on Israel by the Palestinian group Hamas, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Avichai Adri told RIA Novosti.
According to him, Israel does not rule out the release of the hostages by military means.
“There are hostages of different nationalities, there are also those killed from 42 countries, there are seven kidnapped or missing from Russia, and 21 Russian citizens who died, and this is confirmed information officially released by the State of Israel,” said Adri.
An IDF spokesman said that the militants also held eight Americans, seven Germans, seven Argentine citizens hostage, as well as Thai citizens.
Speaker of the Israeli army also toldthat Israel is now implementing a “complete and comprehensive” blockade of the Gaza Strip, and “nothing is flowing into the Palestinian enclave from Israeli territory,” including water, electricity and medicine.
On October 20, Hamas reported that the group had released two American women from captivity – a mother and daughter. Previously, militants said that there were about 200-250 prisoners in the Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli army, the group holds 203 people hostage. The Russian Embassy in Israel reported that at least two Russians are on the Hamas lists, known about 20 dead.
