The Investigative Committee completed the investigation into the murder of the first head of the DPR Zakharchenko

Investigators have completed the investigation into the murder of the first head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, who died in August 2018. About this informed TASS with reference to law enforcement agencies.

“The investigation of the criminal case has been completed,” the agency’s interlocutor said, noting that the Investigative Committee’s department for the DPR dealt with it.

Zakharchenko died at the end of August 2018 in an explosion in the Separ cafe in Donetsk at the age of 42. An explosive device was planted over the door of the establishment and went off when Zakharchenko and the people accompanying him entered the cafe. Together with Zakharchenko, his bodyguard died then, 12 more people were injured.

At that time, Zakharchenko was the head of the DPR for almost four years, he was elected to this position in November 2014. After the death of the ex-head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin became the head of the republic. In November 2018, he won the election of the head of the DPR, gaining more than 60% of the vote.

Upon the death of Zakharchenko, a criminal case was initiated under the article “Terrorist act”. In the Kremlin called happened as a provocation. In early September, the DPR authorities announced the arrest of suspects whose testimony indicates the involvement of the Ukrainian special services. Later Pushilin informedthat law enforcement officers of the DPR established that the murder of Zakharchenko was organized by the SBU with the participation of Western intelligence services.
