The Investigative Committee will conduct an investigation into the demolition of a monument to Soviet soldiers in Moldova. This was reported on the department’s Telegram channel.

The department clarified that the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to request all the necessary data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and give a legal assessment of the incident.

Earlier it became known about the dismantling of a monument to Soviet soldiers from a mass grave in the village of Starye Bilicheni, Singerei region of Moldova. This was announced by the head of the National Organizing Committee “Victory” Alexey Petrovich. According to him, several years ago unknown people stole the left sculpture of a soldier in a helmet, this time they dismantled the figure of a warrior in a cap. Petrovich also noted that a statement on this matter has already been sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office.

He was also outraged by the inaction of the Moldavian authorities against the backdrop of the destruction of the memory of the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War.
