The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has improved its forecast for Russia’s GDP growth from 1.5% to 2.2%. This is stated in the October review of the world economy on the website IMF.
According to the report, projected growth for the Russian economy this year is an improvement of 0.7% from the IMF estimate in July. For 2024, the growth forecast has been reduced from an estimate of 1.3% in July to 1.5%.
The IMF kept the global GDP growth forecast for 2023 at 3%, and increased global inflation to 6.8% (+0.1%). It is expected that economic growth in the eurozone will be 0.7% (-0.2% compared to the July forecast), the United States – 2.1% (+0.3%), China – 5% (-0.2%). The price of oil in 2023, according to the October IMF forecast, will be $80.5 per barrel (-16.5%), in 2024 – $79.92 per barrel (-0.7%).
World Bank (WB) October 5 published a forecast that states that Russia’s GDP growth in 2023 will be 1.6%, in 2024 – 1.3%. On the same day, Rosstat published the dynamics of the components of GDP use in the second quarter. It sparked an expert discussion about the scale of overheating of the Russian economy against the backdrop of structural changes occurring in it.
