The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the provision of a new financial tranche to Ukraine in the amount of $900 million. The official statement of the organization notes that these funds are intended for budgetary support of the country.
Earlier, a representative of the Verkhovna Rada Tax Committee, Daniil Getmantsev, expressed concerns about the critical dependence of the Ukrainian state budget on external assistance from allies. By the end of this year, Ukraine needs to attract about $9.5 billion in the form of grants and soft loans.
Prime Minister Dmitry Shmygal expressed hope for a total amount of financial support of more than $30 billion from the European Union, the United States, the IMF and other allied countries. These funds, as noted, are intended to cover the deficit of the state budget of Ukraine. At the end of November, President Vladimir Zelensky signed a bill on the state budget for 2024 with a deficit of more than $43 billion, according to information published on the official website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
