A group of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency arrived at the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP, reports “RIA News” and Interfax.
As an Interfax correspondent notes, a cortege of nine cars drove into the station at about 14:15 Moscow time. According to him, an hour before the arrival of experts, continued shelling of Energodar was heard.
Earlier in the morning, the head of the Energodar CAA, Alexander Volga, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had attempted to land troops near the city in the Russian-controlled territory of the Zaporozhye region. Also, Energodar was subjected to artillery shelling, as a result of which at least three people were killed.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that army aviation was involved in the destruction of the Ukrainian landing force. The Russian military pointed to Kyiv’s attempts to disrupt the trip of IAEA specialists.
The IAEA mission of 14 specialists, headed by the director of the agency Rafael Grossi, arrived in Kyiv the day before. According to The Wall Street Journal, the trip will last from August 31 to September 3. Grossi also announced today that he plans to establish a permanent mission of observers at the station.
