To ratify the agreement on Sweden’s accession to NATO, the Hungarian parliament is not going to hold an extraordinary meeting. Speaker of Parliament László Kswer told online publication Index that the situation is not extraordinary.
At the same time, he has no doubt that one of the opposition parties, which “does not always meet the interests of Hungary,” will introduce such an idea. However, in his opinion, such an initiative “will not lead to success.” Overall, the speaker “does not feel any urgency” and does not believe that there is any “exceptional situation.”
January 23 Turkish Parliament approved Sweden’s accession to NATO. Thus, Hungary remained the only country in the military bloc whose parliament has not yet voted on the Swedish application.
