The head of the Union of Old Believers: the Pope supported the Christmas truce in Ukraine

The ceasefire announced by Russia on the line of contact for 36 hours in honor of Christmas met with the support of Pope Francis. This was stated by the head of the world Union of Old Believers Leonid Sevastyanov.
According to Sevastyanov, in a conversation with him, Francis supported the decision on a truce. Sevastyanov also proposed to increase the time of the truce until Epiphany, which is celebrated on January 19.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, to cease fire along the entire line of contact from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7, 2023. This decision is connected with the upcoming Christmas.
Recall that Ukraine refused to declare any truce in response to Russia’s step.
