Sergei Gavrilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Property, Land and Property Relations, welcomed the appointment of Mikhail Volkov to the post of head of Russian Post.
“I believe that this is absolutely the right, albeit inevitable, choice, because the post office is now facing a serious crisis due to Western sanctions. Now there is a question about the choice of a new model for the development of the Russian Post, – said Gavrilov.
According to him, the post will combine traditional activities, such as developing a wide regional network, as well as developing postal and additional services, including the delivery of pensions and the delivery of medicines, products, and expanding logistics services.
Gavrilov also noted that Volkov is a good organizer and analyst who understands the strategy of the post office and understands the implementation of digital technologies in the postal sector. “His next task is to radically modernize the Russian Post, which is of strategic importance for our country, and supplement the low-profit social services business with modern additional services while maintaining the network of post offices across the country,” he concluded.
RBC and Kommersant wrote earlier today that the government had agreed on the candidacy of Mikhail Volkov as the new head of the Russian Post. Volkov in 2017 took the position of Deputy General Director for Operations of Russian Post, in 2019 – Deputy General Director for Operations and Retail.
