The head of the South Korean Foreign Ministry threatened Russia with sanctions in the event of military transactions with the DPRK

The Republic of Korea is considering the possibility of introducing its own sanctions against the DPRK and Russia if there are agreements on military cooperation between the countries. This was stated by South Korean Foreign Minister Park Chin.

“We are considering all possible measures,” he answered the question of whether the republic is considering introducing sanctions against Russia and the DPRK. His words leads Yonhap agency.

According to the minister, if Moscow and Pyongyang reach an agreement on arms trade, this will be a great threat to security and peace on the Korean Peninsula. Such interaction is contrary to UN Security Council resolutions, he added. “The government is issuing a stern warning and calling for this to not happen,” the minister said.

The agency notes that South Korea has never imposed its own sanctions against Russia; the republic only participates in the sanctions of the international community against Moscow.
