The chairman of the Social Protection Party, Vladimir Mikhailov, has submitted documents to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to participate in the Russian presidential elections, which will be held in 2024. The press service of the Central Election Commission reported this.
“On December 24, 2023, members of the Working Group accepted from Vladimir Mikhailov a package of documents for nomination for the election of the head of state. Vladimir Mikhailov nominated his candidacy following the decision of the congress of the political party Social Protection, which took place in Moscow on December 23,” says the message.
Vladimir Mikhailov is 59 years old. Since 2005, he has been a deputy of the regional Duma of the 4th convocation. Until 2007, he led the United Russia faction in the Kostroma Regional Duma. In 2021, he participated in the State Duma elections, but the election commission refused to register him, invalidating part of the signatures of voters collected in his support.
Voting in the presidential election will take place for the first time over three days, from March 15 to 17, 2024. The current President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, submitted documents to the CEC on December 18. Nikolai Kharitonov (from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation), Leonid Slutsky (from the LDPR), Boris Nadezhdin (from the “Civil Initiative”) were also nominated as candidates for the presidential post.
