The Rybinsk city court sentenced Oleg Belkov, general director of the Bell shipyard (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region), to three years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period in a criminal case on the smuggling of two patrol landing craft. This was reported to Vedomosti by lawyer Dmitry Pak.
Initially the state prosecution requested for him 5.5 years in prison. Belkov himself does not admit guilt.
Criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of military equipment, the maximum term is seven years) against the general director of the Bell shipyard, the FSB initiated in February 2021, first he was placed under house arrest. According to a Vedomosti source in law enforcement agencies, Belkov illegally exported to the UAE across the customs border of the Customs Union within the framework of the EAEU two patrol landing craft, which were made under the guise of pleasure boats.
In September 2020, the equipment was confiscated by the FSB officers, the consideration of the criminal case in court began in the summer of 2022.
Shipyard “Bell” was established in Rybinsk in 2019, it is engaged in the construction of ships, vessels and floating structures. Prior to that, from 2012 to 2018, Belkov led the Vympel Rybinsk shipyard. In 2017, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the business community of the Yaroslavl region in Rybinsk, which was also attended by Belkov, noted the growth of wages and labor productivity at the enterprise.
