The Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus Ivan Kubrakov discussed with representatives of the Wagner PMC the training of fighters and issues of interaction. About it reported in the department’s Telegram channel.
The meeting took place at the training center of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to Kubrakov, it is especially important to be prepared to respond to possible challenges and threats when a “difficult situation” develops near the border of the republic. The practical experience of the PMC fighters is of great importance for the Belarusian fighters who adopt it, the department stressed.
“The parties have developed a clear action plan, exchanged views on the use of certain types of equipment,” the ministry said in a statement.
The military company ended up on the territory of the republic after an attempted armed rebellion in Russia, which was organized by the founder of PMC Evgeny Prigozhin on June 24. Then, according to Prigogine, PMC fighters had to walk 200 km to Moscow. As a result, an agreement was reached that Wagner would move to Belarus, and the criminal case against Prigozhin was dropped.
On July 20, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced joint exercises with Wagner at the Brestsky training ground – 13 km from the Brest checkpoint on the border with Poland. After that, Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak announced the transfer of military formations to the east of the country. Later he clarifiedthat a sapper battalion will be created on the border with Belarus and the Kaliningrad region.
At the same time, on the eve of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko informedthat the Wagnerites “began to strain him”, as they declared their desire to “go on an excursion” to the West. The President of the Republic, according to him, keeps the Wagner participants “in the center, as agreed”, Minsk “would not like to relocate them there, because their mood is bad.”
