According to him, this is a positive step, even despite the overall situation with nuclear security, which remains unstable. Such information appeared on the IAEA website.
The head of the agency also noted the extra efforts of the employees of the nuclear power plant. “Working in a very difficult environment, the operational staff at Zaporozhye NPP are doing their best to strengthen the fragile off-site power supply situation,” said Grossi. He also stated earlier. that intensive negotiations with Russia and Ukraine made it possible to move closer to the creation of a protective zone at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
ZaES came under Russian control on 28 February. Despite the constant shelling, the station continued to operate as usual. In early September, Rafael Grossi visited the ZaEc together with the IAEA delegation. The agency later published an inspection report and called for a security zone around the station to avoid accidents due to shelling.
