The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said that in a few hours of work at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP), he managed to collect enough important information and see “key things” informs “RIA News”.
“Today we were able to collect a lot of information. The key things I wanted to see, I saw,” said Grossi.
A few hours ago, a group of IAEA inspectors arrived to the ZNPP territory. A cortege of nine cars drove into the station at about 14:15 Moscow time. Prior to this, the Ukrainian side continued to shell Energodar, where the nuclear power plant is located.
Earlier today, the head of the military-civilian administration (MCA) of the Zaporozhye region Vladimir Rogov declaredthat three Ukrainian saboteurs who tried to seize the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant were taken prisoner. Two of them are in critical condition. In addition, on the morning of September 1, the head of the Energodar CAA, Alexander Volga, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine also attempted to land troops near the city in the Russian-controlled territory of the Zaporozhye region. Energodar itself came under artillery fire, killing at least three people.
The IAEA mission of 14 specialists, headed by the director of the agency Rafael Grossi, arrived in Kyiv the day before. According to The Wall Street Journal, the trip will last from August 31 to September 3. Grossi also announced today that he plans to establish a permanent mission of observers at the station.
