The head of the French Interior Ministry: tourists were victims of the attack in Paris

A German citizen was killed by an attacker near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and two more tourists were wounded. This was announced by the head of the French Ministry of Internal Affairs, Gerald Darmanin.
The minister also clarified that after the murder of the first tourist, nearby patrolmen immediately tried to neutralize the criminal, but he still managed to wound one of the tourists with a hammer and seriously frighten another. The police fired two shots from stun guns. The first hit the jacket and was unable to neutralize the attacker, the second knocked him down.
The minister said that the suspect in the attack, a 26-year-old Frenchman, previously had serious mental problems and was in prison for preparing the attack. He was released in 2020 and, according to Darmalin, has since been under the surveillance of France’s domestic intelligence service, DGSI. However, the official did not specify how the attack became possible.
The attacker stated that he acted under the impression of the consequences of the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip. He also accused the French leadership of aiding Israel.
