The head of Rosatom spoke about the “collapse” of global energy logistics

Rosatom General Director Alexey Likhachev said that three factors had the greatest impact on the global economy: overcoming the “post-Fukushima syndrome”, a change in the approach to green energy and the “collapse of global logistics” in the energy sector. He said this during a speech at Russian Energy Week.

Distrust in nuclear energy after the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, according to Mr. Likhachev, has been overcome both psychologically and legally. As the general director of Rosatom said, changes in safety measures made it possible to once again consider nuclear energy comfortable and in demand.

“The second obvious factor (influencing the world economy – Kommersant) is the cessation of the vulgar interpretation of greenness as “only the wind, only the sun,” said Mr. Likhachev (quoted from TASS). The world, he said, has realized that a solution to the energy deficit must be sought in a complex of different measures. It is impossible to single out just one source of energy to solve this issue, the head of Rosatom added.

Alexey Likhachev named the third factor that has the greatest impact on the global economy as the “collapse of global logistics,” which is occurring due to international conflicts. He added that the “world nuclear family” is coping with the consequences of this factor “in the most sustainable way.”

The day before, the International Monetary Fund published an updated review of the world economy. The growth rate of the global economy, according to the fund’s forecasts, will slow from 3.5% to 3% in 2023 and to 2.9% next year.
