The head of Dagestan announced the influence of Ukraine on the unrest in Makhachkala

The riots at Makhachkala airport were regulated from Ukraine. This was stated by the head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov during the press approach.

“I believe that the initiators of this action are, of course, our enemies, of course, those who operated these events from the territory of Ukraine,” he said (quote according to RIA Novosti).

Melikov announced attempts to destabilize the situation in Dagestan from abroad, including with the help of pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels. He notedthat the regional authorities have reliable information that the Morning of Dagestan channel is administered from Ukraine.

During his conversation with journalists, Melikov also spoke about the state of the airport’s infrastructure after the riots. According to him, equipment and facilities in Terminal B (international departures terminal) were not damaged. In Terminal A (domestic airlines terminal) “everything has been preserved for stable and reliable operation,” the head of the region emphasized.

Melikov clarified that the airport will be restored within two to three days, Melikov promised. In particular, international flights will be operated again “to quickly make up for the events of this night,” he added.

The head of Dagestan noted that the situation in the republic after the riots is calm, and emphasized that there will be no “shaking of the situation” in the region. He said that all those responsible for the incident will be punished, “there will be no forgiveness for anyone.” According to Melikov, after the protest, criminal cases were opened “on a number of facts.”

The head of Dagestan called what happened the day before a betrayal. “Yesterday’s action is a knife in the back to our military personnel, who today are defending our entire country in the zone of a special military operation. It turns out that they are fighting our enemy, and those who came out to the so-called protest rally yesterday were playing for the enemy,” he explained.

October 29 Melikov notedthat the people of Dagestan “pray for peace in Palestine.” At the same time, he called what happened at the Makhachkala airport outrageous and promised that law enforcement agencies would give this incident an appropriate assessment. The head of the republic emphasized that there is no honor or good intentions in the actions of the protesters.

On October 29, a crowd of activists burst into Makhachkala airport as a flight from Israel arrived there. In connection with the incident, the Investigative Committee for Dagestan opened a criminal case under Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organizing mass riots, as well as providing armed resistance to a representative of the authorities). As a result of the riots suffered more than 20 people – both police and civilians. Two patients are in critical condition.

On the same day, the Federal Air Transport Agency announced the temporary closure of the airport. By 22:20 Moscow time, the building was cleared of people who had entered it without permission. The airport will resume operations on October 31, clarified earlier today at the department. Until this moment, flights heading to Makhachkala will be accepted by alternate airfields.
