The head of Chuvashia proposed to replace military service with work at defense industry enterprises

For conscripts who graduated from institutions of secondary vocational and higher education, provision should be made for the replacement of military service in the army with work at enterprises of the military-industrial complex (DIC). This proposal was made by the head of Chuvashia Oleg Nikolaev.

“There are a number of problems. Particularly acute is the issue of providing personnel for backbone enterprises, as well as enterprises of the military-industrial complex of the Chuvash Republic. Their deficit has been formed over the years,” wrote he is in his Telegram channel.

According to him, the region needs 1,772 specialists for defense industry enterprises, of which 1,369 are job vacancies. In this regard, Nikolaev proposed to implement the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on a deferment for conscripts who work at defense industry enterprises.

The head of Chuvashia voiced two possible options for implementing this proposal. The first is to equate the work of military-age specialists at factories with alternative service for five years. The second is to give them a grace period of three years. According to Nikolaev, “both options are economically beneficial for the economy of both the region and the country.”

Elaboration of the issue of granting a deferment to the employees of the military-industrial complex President announced January 18 during a visit to the Obukhov plant, which is part of the Almaz-Antey aerospace defense concern. He pointed to the workload of enterprises and noted that employees work in three shifts. Then Putin said that the issue of a delay could be resolved in the near future.

On March 14, Putin announced that the list of professions in demand had already been handed over to the Defense Ministry. Information later confirmed in the department. The head of state also acknowledged the shortage of personnel in the defense industry and added that this hinders the fulfillment of the state defense order.
