The governor of the Pskov region named the names of two pilots who died on June 24

During the suppression of the armed rebellion on June 24, two servicemen of the Pskov territorial garrison were killed. About it informed Governor of the Pskov Region Mikhail Vedernikov in a video message on his Telegram channel.

“The trouble passed by, the delicate, professional, diplomatic work of a number of departments saved hundreds, if not thousands of lives, but there were still victims – the very hero pilots that the president spoke about. Among them were servicemen of the Pskov Territorial Garrison, the crew of the Ka-52 – Lieutenant Colonel Alexei Vorozhtsov and Lieutenant Denis Oleinikov,” Vedernikov said.

The governor expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

June 27, speaking on the Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin in front of the military and law enforcement officers, Russian President Vladimir Putin toldthat on June 24, pilots were killed during a confrontation with the rebels. “They did not flinch and honorably fulfilled the order and their military duty,” the head of state said, offering to honor their memory with a minute of silence. Putin did not name the number of dead and their names.

Then, during a meeting with the military, the president promisedthat the families of the fallen soldiers will be supported. According to him, everything will be done for this.

On June 24, the founder of Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, attempted an armed rebellion, accusing the Ministry of Defense of attacking the company’s rear camps. The Russian military department called the information about the strikes a provocation. On Saturday, Prigozhin took control of Rostov-on-Don and sent columns of PMCs towards Moscow.

On the evening of June 24, after negotiations with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Prigozhin announced that he had decided to stop the movement towards Moscow and return to the rear camps of PMCs.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov explained that as a result an agreement was reached: the criminal case of a military rebellion initiated against Prigozhin would be terminated, and he himself would “leave for Belarus.” Wagner fighters and commanders will be able to conclude contracts with the Ministry of Defense and other law enforcement agencies, or, if such a decision is made, also leave for Belarus, Putin specified on June 26.
