In the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region, a power line pole was blown up, an explosive device was found on the second pole, the governor of the region, Alexander Drozdenko, said on Sunday.
“At 00:01 on May 1, a power line pole was blown up on the territory of the Susaninsky settlement of the Gatchinsky district, an unknown object, presumably an explosive device, was found on the second one,” wrote he is in his Telegram channel.
According to Drozdenko, the power supply of settlements and civil infrastructure has not been disrupted, the network has been switched by the substation in automatic mode. Explosives, experts from the FSB and the prosecutor’s office are working on the spot, the governor added.
Later, Drozdenko said that the threat of undermining the second pillar of the power line was eliminated by explosives: they removed and cleared the charge with a fuse. An examination of other supports of the damaged line is now underway, he wrote.
In March, a drone crashed into a power line in the urban district of Shchelkovo, Moscow Region, then no signs of the use of explosives by the drone were found, and the power line was not damaged.
In November last year, FSB officers detained a citizen of Ukraine who, on the instructions of the SBU, planned to blow up a power line in Crimea. The special service reported on the seizure of three high-explosive explosive devices, instructions for their use and the layout of power transmission towers in one of the regions of Crimea.
