The government lifted restrictions on investing NWF funds in 2023

The Russian government has lifted restrictions that depended on the liquid part of the National Wealth Fund (NWF) on investing its funds in 2023.
Now investments are possible in infrastructure projects if the liquid part of the NWF is more than 7% of GDP, and in other assets – from 10% of GDP. According to decree published on the official portal of legal information, these restrictions are suspended until January 1, 2024.
The Government of the Russian Federation plans to invest 2.2 trillion rubles of NWF funds this year in priority projects, including 1.7 trillion rubles in self-sustaining infrastructure projects, 0.5 trillion rubles in anti-crisis investments.
On February 25, the FNB came under sanctions European Union. In the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation assuredthat restrictive measures will not affect plans for investing from the fund.
