The government has renewed a temporary ban on rapeseed exports. According to by order government, the ban will remain in effect until August 31, 2024. Previous restrictions were in effect from September 1, 2023 to February 29 of this year.

The government press service said in a statement that the introduction of the ban “will ensure the utilization of domestic enterprises producing rapeseed oil, as well as provide livestock farming with the necessary processing products of this oilseed crop.”

The ban does not apply to exports to the EAEU countries, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia. In addition, the restrictions will not affect rapeseed, which is exported from Russia within the framework of international agreements and the provision of humanitarian assistance to foreign countries.

In March 2022, the government introduced quotas on the export of sunflower oil and feed produced from it (meal), as well as a ban on the export of sunflower seeds and rapeseed. The Ministry of Agriculture explained that this measure will eliminate the possibility of shortages and a sharp increase in the cost of raw materials in Russia against the backdrop of increasing demand for Russian products. A ban on the export of rapeseed was introduced from April 1, 2022 to August 31, 2022. Then in September 2022, the ban was extended until February 28, 2023, then until August 31, 2023 and February 29, 2024.
