To improve the well-being of Russians, the government indexed pensions, benefits and payments over the year. The authorities are also raising the minimum wage, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

“We have indexed pensions, payments and benefits. Last year, taking into account the planned, as well as the additional indexation carried out a year earlier, insurance pensions were increased by a total of 15%. They have also been increased for 2024,” he said during the government’s report to the State Duma (quoted from website government).

According to Mr. Mishustin, the pace at which the government is increasing the minimum wage is outpacing inflation. At the moment, the minimum wage has increased by 18% over the year. The prime minister added that the government pays special attention to the salaries of public sector employees.

Mikhail Mishustin also statedthat the average salary in Russia is 73 thousand rubles. Real wages in the country, according to the Russian prime minister, grew by 7.8% over the year, and the growth of total income was 5.6%.

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to more than double the minimum wage by 2030 so that it is at least 35 thousand rubles. The head of state also instructed to reduce the difference in wages in the regions.
