On behalf of President Vladimir Putin, the government extended the moratorium on business inspections for the entire 2024. The exception will remain for extremely high-risk facilities, as well as for inspections that are carried out in the event of a threat to the lives of citizens or the security of the country.
“The moratorium has already proven itself well. It allowed us to seriously, almost five times, reduce the number of inspections compared to 2019. Business was able to direct more resources to fulfill its current tasks, as well as to expand projects and develop new markets,” Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin commented on the decision (quoted by government press service).
According to Mr. Mishustin, taking into account the decisions made for the current year, the prosecutor’s office has agreed on 93 thousand events – 4 times less than in 2022. In most cases, business inspections are replaced by “preventative visits.” “They allow organizations to proactively identify deficiencies and correct them without penalty. As of the end of November, their number was almost 3 times higher than the number of inspections,” the prime minister noted.
