The Russian government has extended a ban on the entry of trucks from the European Union (EU), Great Britain, Norway and Ukraine. The ban was introduced in 2022 in response to the EU’s decision not to allow trucks with Russian and Belarusian license plates into its territory.
According to press release government, the restriction “will remain in effect until the circumstances that served as the basis for its introduction are eliminated.” An exception was made for the transportation of postal items, diplomatic mail and humanitarian aid. Also, restrictions now do not apply to the passage of technical support trucks delivering equipment and sports cars to sporting events.
On September 8, the European Commission published an explanation of the sanctions, according to which Russian citizens cannot enter the EU countries in cars with Russian license plates. Similar restrictions have already been introduced by Bulgaria, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.
