The government exempted importers from customs duties on goods significant for the industry

Importers of certain types of critical import goods were exempted from the need to provide security for the payment of customs taxes and duties. The decision applies to goods imported into Russia from March 28, 2022. The decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the press service government.

The government reminded that until March 2023, zero rates of customs duties will apply to certain goods of the food, electronics, metallurgical and light industries. At the same time, in order to receive benefits, importers must provide security for the payment of customs duties and fees, which requires additional costs.

“The need to comply with this requirement leads to the fact that participants in foreign economic activity have to divert significant funds. Thus, the economic effect of benefits is leveled,” the press service said in a statement.
