The Government of the Russian Federation will finance the purchase of modern equipment needed to expand the production of MS-21 aircraft. The first batch of equipment should be contracted this year, the rest – within the next three years.
“We expect that such support will allow the aviation industry to quickly enter mass production in the amount of at least 36 aircraft per year. These aircraft are needed primarily for the domestic market, so that our citizens can freely use the services of this type of transport, regardless of external pressure, ”Mishustin is quoted in the message.
The press service of the regional government, with reference to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, also notes that at present “work on import substitution of 82 aircraft systems has been intensified”, and by the end of the year “MS-21 with a domestic PD-14 engine with a wing from domestic composites”. By 2029, it is planned to produce up to 72 such machines annually.
As part of the diversification of production at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, since 2007, a project has been launched for the production of passenger aircraft of the MS-21 family. Medium-haul liners should take their place in the most massive segment of the aviation market. In particular, the MS-21-300 aircraft with a capacity of 160 to 211 seats and the MS-21-200 aircraft, which can accommodate from 130 to 176 passengers, are being developed.
