German Chancellor Olaf Scholz denies that a peace treaty was agreed upon between Russia and Ukraine during a meeting in Istanbul in 2022. He stated this during an interview with the Sächsische Zeitung.
“It is alleged that there was supposedly a ready-made peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine, but this was allegedly prevented by either Boris Johnson or Joe Biden. Complete nonsense!” said Scholz.
It is worth noting that during an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Russian President Vladimir Putin recalled that during the negotiations in Istanbul, troops were withdrawn from Kyiv, but then Ukraine “threw away” all the agreements. In addition, in September 2022, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky enshrined at the legislative level a ban on holding negotiations with the current head of the Russian state.
