The funeral of the first President of the Republic of Nikolaev took place in Yakutia – Kommersant

The first president of Yakutia, Mikhail Nikolaev, was buried in his native village of Oktemtsy, reported press service of the government of the republic. After the civil memorial service, a funeral service was held at the Trinity Church in the village of Chapaevo, Khangalassky ulus.
The service was officiated by Archbishop Roman of Yakutia and Lena, who also voiced a message of condolences from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’. A mourning meeting was organized in the building of the Small Academy of Sciences in the village of Chapaevo, which was attended by the head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev. He said that under the leadership of Mr. Nikolaev, the region has become “an example of modern state building,” TASS reports.
Mikhail Nikolaev in 1989 was elected Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic, in December 1991 – President of Yakutia. He held this post until 2002. He died August 4 at the age of 85. in the republic announced mourning from 5 to 8 August inclusive. First part of the funeral ceremony took place August 6 in Moscow, at the permanent representation of Yakutia under the President of the Russian Federation.
