FSB: The West launched an information war against the Russian Federation because of the Safronov case

Western countries, against the backdrop of a criminal case against the former adviser to the head of Roscosmos Ivan Safronov, have unleashed a real information war against Russia, said Alexander Chaban, deputy head of the 1st department of the investigative department of the FSB of Russia. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“A total information war was organized against the criminal case,” he said, noting that to discredit the criminal case, the Western media attracted everyone they could – public and cultural figures. At the same time, they were not interested in the details and facts established by the investigation, and the main goal was to discredit Russia and its security forces. Chaban noted that, whenever possible, Western journalists asked Russian President Vladimir Putin questions about Safronov.

Chaban noted that in such situations, the best answer was a high-quality investigation within the framework of the case.

“These are examinations, interrogations, procedural actions. The decisions are all balanced, competent, exclusively within the framework of the criminal process,” he said, emphasizing that the priority was to prevent claims to the case from the regulatory authorities – the court and the prosecutor’s office.

Earlier it was reported that the former adviser to the head of Roscosmos, Ivan Safronov, transferred to a Czech citizen data on Russian military satellites that worked primarily in the interests of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, as well as on Russia’s actions in Syria.
