The FSB reported the disclosure of three Ukrainian intelligence groups in the Zaporozhye region

FSB officers in the Zaporozhye region uncovered three intelligence groups that were coordinated by Ukrainian intelligence. This was reported by the FSB press service, writes “RIA News”.

FSB officers detained the administrators of the Ukrainian media “RIA-Melitopol” and the Telegram chat “Melitopol – Tse Ukraine”. It is clarified that foreign intelligence used these resources to “gather intelligence information and exert psychological influence on the residents of the region,” as well as to formulate an anti-Russian agenda in the Zaporozhye region. In addition, the detainees called on residents of the region to collect and transmit information about the movement of Russian military personnel and equipment.

During the arrest, one of the Ukrainian intelligence agents offered armed resistance and was killed. During searches at his place of residence, they found an improvised explosive device, a machine gun and a grenade.

The detainees admitted that they assisted Ukrainian intelligence. Now the activity of their information resources has been stopped; warnings have been sent to their subscribers about responsibility for transferring information to Ukraine that threatens the security of Russia.

A criminal case has been initiated into the incident under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism). The maximum punishment under the article provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years. In addition, the defendants may be prosecuted under articles of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and espionage (Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The maximum punishment under these articles provides for imprisonment for life or up to 20 years, respectively.
